The fast-food chain has announced it is banning the sale of alcoholic beverages to customers and employees and it will also require the purchase of alcohol-free soft drinks.
The decision to ban the sale and purchase of alcoholic drinks comes after a recent study revealed a link between drinking and heart disease, according to a statement from the chain.
McDonald’s said the ban is meant to be a “consistent, low-risk measure” for all employees and customers.
McD’s said in a statement that it is a “top priority” to provide a safe environment and to improve the quality of the workplace.
“We will continue to work closely with the state’s Office of Labor and Employment, which oversees food service and other industries, to make this change as easy as possible for all of our employees and our customers,” the company said.
