Beverage companies face big challenges as new regulations threaten industry

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning about a new class of ingredients that could undermine American soda drinking habits.

The agency warned that some of the ingredients used in soft drinks, such as maltodextrin and fructose, have been found to be hazardous to human health and the environment, and it has said it will take action if they continue to be used.
